Elizabeth and her husband, Gregory Davis, have been married for 34 years and they have nine children ranging from age 11 to 32.
The Davis family was received into Orthodoxy at St. Seraphim’s Orthodox Cathedral in Dallas, Texas in 1996, and were greatly influenced by Archbishop Dmitri of blessed memory. As an Air Force family they moved a number of times, experiencing a number of parishes and jurisdictions over the years before Gregory’s retirement in 2007.
All of the Davis children were homeschooled from the beginning — the seven oldest children were homeschooled for kindergarten through high school, and the two youngest are still homeschooling. Three of the children have graduated from college, one with a postgraduate degree, and another currently pursuing postgraduate studies. Three of Gregory and Elizabeth’s children are now married. They have three grandchildren.
Attracted to the Charlotte Mason approach to homeschooling, Elizabeth wanted to make available more Orthodox-friendly public domain material and early Church patristic writings that Orthodox families could integrate into a Charlotte Mason approach to homeschooling. As a result, she founded Paidea Classics in 2001 and has been publishing resources for Orthodox homeschoolers and educators for the past two decades.
In recent years, Elizabeth and her son, John Davis, founded Studion Ministries, a non-profit Orthodox Christian lay ministry dedicated to helping preserve holy sites and communities in need. Studion Ministries currently helps support St. Katherine’s Monastery on Mount Sinai.
